Surf and coastal conditions, made in Burleigh Heads
Read the ocean before you paddle out.
Swellwick is a surf and beach-safety app for the Australian coast. Swell, wind, tide, rips and patrol flags for 1,400 beaches, in one honest forecast you can check from the car park.
What we do
Conditions you can trust, from people who surf them
Swellwick turns buoy, tide-gauge and weather-model data into a plain forecast for each beach: when it'll be good, when it won't, and whether the flags are up. We're a small Australian team building for surfers, ocean swimmers, surf schools, surf lifesaving clubs and coastal councils.
Swell and wind, hour by hour
Seven-day swell, period, direction and wind for every spot, with a 1 to 5 rating our forecasters check each morning.
Tides you can plan around
High, low and the push in between, from the nearest gauge, with sunrise, sunset and water temperature.
Rips and patrol flags
Rip-risk alerts and live patrol status from partner clubs. Red and yellow means patrolled. Swim between them.
Spot reports
Short, kind reports from locals and lifeguards. No crowd-shaming, no secret-spot leaks.
Alerts that respect your sleep
Tell us what "good" means for you and we'll ping you once, the evening before.
Swellwick Patrol
A live beach dashboard for clubs and councils: flags, hazards, crowd counts and incident logs. See Patrol.
Why Swellwick
How we compare
Other good forecast apps in our space include Kelpcast, Gullwatch and Saltline Surf. They're solid, and plenty of our users run two apps. Here's where we put our effort: beach safety alongside surf, data from Australian sources, and a free tier that stays useful. Full comparison.
- Patrol flags and rip alerts next to the surf forecast, not in a separate app.
- Built for Australian beaches first, by people who live on one.
- One plain rating a day, checked by a human forecaster.
